We ensure that your electrical installations conform to the latest safety guidelines from the The British Standards Institution (BSI) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) standard BS 7671:2008, which requires "every new installation and alteration, or extension to an existing installation, be inspected and tested before being put into service. It is also recommended that all fixed wiring installations be tested for safety periodically".

New installations

The Regulations specify a wide range of tests which must be carried out before a new installation is commissioned. If any of these tests reveals a non-compliance, that test and any preceding tests, where the result may have been affected by the fault, have to be repeated.

On completion, as well as issuing a report, our electrcian must recommend periodic inspection and test interval: this interval is usually no more than five years, but can be shorter with some installations. We will also submit a quotation for the work required to bring the installation in line with the Health & Safety at Work Regulations.

Alterations and additions

Naturally, any alteration or addition to an installation is subject to the same inspection and test criteria as a new installation. In addition, the Spartan Contracts electrician will ensure that the alteration or addition does not impair the safety of any existing installations.

Home Information Pack (HIPs)

Since 14th December 2007 properties marketed in England and Wales need a Home Information Pack (HIP).

Home Condition Report

A HIP can include a Home Condition Report that contains information about the physical condition of a property, which sellers, buyers and lenders will be able to rely on legally as an accurate report.

Spartan Contracts' electrcians can perform fixed wire inspections of domestic properties to Part P of the Building Regulations and subsequent rectification of faults prior to sale or lease.
